PHOTOCATALYST FILTER AND METHOD FOR PREPARATION THEREOF

A photocatalyst filter (1) which comprises a porous ceramic body (2) having a three-dimensional network structure and, on the surface thereof, an irregular surface layer (30) formed by ceramic particles for the surface layer (3) having an average particle diameter of 1 mu m to 100 mu m, and, carried on the irregular surface layer (30), a photocatalyst (4); and a method for preparing the catalyst filter (1) which comprises impregnating an organic porous body with a slurry containing ceramic fine particles and a binder to thereby render them to adhere to the organic porous body, rendering the above ceramic particles for the surface layer (3) to adhere to the slurry before drying of the slurry, drying and heating the porous organic body, thereby firing out the organic body and simultaneously sintering both the ceramic particles to form the porous ceramic body (2) having a three-dimensional network structure, and then rendering the photocatalyst to be carried. The photocatalyst filter allows a photocatalyst to exhibit more range of its potential catalyst activity as compared to a conventional filter, and thus is excellent in the efficiency of purification of drain water, air or the like.
