PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a mold coating agent harmonized with the conditions of a fire protection law, safety and sanitation law and a cost while providing good volatility. SOLUTION: In the mold coating agent composed of aggregate, a binder and a solvent, the solvent is composed of water and alcohol, and the alcohol is composed of methanol and ethanol. The blending ratio of the alcohol is >7 wt.% to 21 wt.% to the whole amount of the solvent and the blending ratio of the methanol is <=5 wt.% to the whole amount of the coating agent.
