PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a preparation for external use, capable of being substituted for a steroidal anti-inflammatory preparation for external use and more excellent than the same, and used for treating atopic dermatitis and/or its associated skin diseases, by adding a specific nitroimidazole-based compound as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This preparation for external use contains a nitroimidazole-based compound of the formula (R1 and R2 are each an alkyl or a hydroxyalkyl, and may contain hydroxyl or the like) or its pharmaceutically acceptable salt [preferably, 2-(2-methyl-5-nitroimidazol-1-yl)ethanol] in an amount of, preferably, 0.01-20 wt.%, and more preferably 1.5-20 wt.%, converted to the active ingredient based on the weight of the preparation. The preparation may be applied to the skin, for example, in approximately twice or 3 times daily for treating atopic dermatitis and/or its associated skin diseases. |
