PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mass-producible and uniform forming method of a covered type nib without variation the tip part of which has a chisel-like form and the peripheral surface of which is covered with a non-writable covering part. SOLUTION: By carrying a nib stock a1 under the carrying state that the nib stock a1 is faced sideways and held at an inclination angle as the same inclination angle b of the apex side part 2a of a chisel-like tip part 4 to its transferring direction a and the tip part of the nib stock a1 is moved along the circumscribing line 13a of an annular groove part 13 having the cross-sectional passage of a near V-shape in a rotary whetstone 12 by a carrying body 14, the tip part of the nib stock a1 is ground into a chisel-like shape by being passed through the annular groove part 13. After that, by rotating the pen point stock a1 around the pen axis line by a rotator 16, a rotary whetstone 19 grinds a covering part 3 on at least toe side between the toe side 2a1 and the heel side 2a2 at the apex side part 2a of the chisel-like tip part and a core part 2. Thus, a nib 1 having a mode, in which at least the toe side 2a1 between the toe side part 2a1 and the heel side 2a2 of the apex side part 2a of the core part 2 is projected beyond the covering part in the chisel-like tip part 4, is formed.
