PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce clogging, improve the flow of water, and make the life of a whole filter longer by forming two layers of carbon filter mediums of different pore sizes---a layer of a smaller pore size inside and a layer of a larger core size outside---on the peripheral surface of a core material. SOLUTION: A carbon filter 3 comprises two layers formed so that a filter medium may be a dense layer 8 inside and that a filter medium may be an loose layer 9 outside in filter mediums having different pore sizes on the peripheral surface of a cylindrical core material 7 having many water-passing pores. As the dense layer 8, for example, is preferably used a filter medium formed so as to be the pore size of approximately 1μm or less by compounding 50% by weight of a granulated active carbon of the average particle diameter of approximately 30-50μm with 50% by weight of an activated carbon fiber of the size of approximately 0.3-0.5μm. As the loose layer 9, is preferably used a filter medium formed so as to be the pore size of approximately 20μm by compounding approximately 70% by weight of the granulated active carbon having the same particle diameter as said with approximately 30% by weight of the activated carbon fiber of the pore size of approximately 8-13μm.
