PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 13C-enriched carbon dioxide by which the mass production of the carbon dioxide at a high 13C concentration can efficiently be carried out in relatively small-scale equipment. SOLUTION: Irradiating laser beams 5 in which carbonyl group (13C=O) having carbon isotope 13C in carbonyl groups (C=O) present in a structure of β-propiolactone is capable of isotopically selectively absorbing the light beams are outputted from a free electron laser device 1 and condensed through a lens 2 to irradiate the β-propiolactone in an optical cell 3 therewith. Thereby, the decomposition of the β-propiolactone having the carbon isotope 13C is promoted to raise the concentration of the 13C in the carbon dioxide produced by the decomposition. |
