PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart a comfortable sitting position desirable for a seater's body without a feeling of restraint by inserting an appropriate amount of cushioning material for each seater having difficulty in sitting on a wheelchair while keeping a good sitting position because of abnormal myotonia or the limited movable ranges of joints, such as an old person or a physically challenging person, and adjusting the expanded form of each expanding pad to assist the seater in maintaining his or her posture. SOLUTION: This auxiliary cushion comprises a rectangular backrest part 2 made from a soft fabric filled with a thin cushioning material of even thickness and a rectangular seat part 3. The backrest part 2 has binding cords 5 at its corners for binding to the frame of a wheelchair, and the seat part 3 has a support fabric 4 for the trunk of a seater's body, made of a soft fabric extending from the rear of the backrest part 2 to the front end of the seat part and narrowed in the ends and having binding cords 6 at the ends. Expanding pads 7, 8, 9 are provided respectively on the parts of both the right and left sides of the backrest part 2 abutting against the seater' s sides and waist, the parts of both the right and left sides of the seat part abutting against the outsides of the seater's thighs, and the parts of the center front side of the seat part abutting against the insides of the seater's thighs.
