PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint for segment which suitably tightens segments to cover an internal wall of an underground cavity such as a shielded tunnel with each other, simplifies the tightening, and prevents a joint part from being exposed, and a segment tightening method using it. SOLUTION: A clip-shaped female part formed of a metal sheet is mounted on a side surface in the longitudinal direction of one segment 110, and a male part 4 is mounted on a side surface 111 of the other segment 110. Segment rings 100 can be tightened by burying the male part 4 into the female part only by implementing a process similar to a regular segment assembly process that the segment 110 is abutted on the segment ring 100 before it from a forward side. The female part functions as a leaf spring, and need not be additionally tightened since the male part 4 is constantly tightened.
