PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulse width modulation controller for horizontal deflection of a display device for fulfilling a transitional reponse and stability for all the horizontal frequencies of a corresponding range. SOLUTION: This is a pulse width modulation controller 100 for horizontal deflection of a display device for controlling pulse width modulation for horizontal deflection by generating horizontal sawtooth waveform based on the horizontal deflection frequencies of a horizontal synchronizing pulse. This device is provided with a horizontal frequency judging circuit 23 for judging the horizontal deflection frequencies of a horizontal synchronizing pulse, a horizontal sawtooth waveform control circuit 24 for controlling horizontal sawtooth waveform for generating pulse width modulation waveform for a control circuit in a horizontal size of the horizontal deflection frequencies based on the horizontal frequency judgment data from the horizontal frequency judging circuit 23, and a horizontal sawtooth waveform generating circuit 25 for generating the horizontal sawtooth waveform based on a control signal obtained from the horizontal sawtooth waveform control circuit.
