PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain an optimum network at a low cost regardless of the existing device and network configurations by securing a redundant configuration by connecting the 1st and 2nd multiplexing devices together via a cable. SOLUTION: A 1st and 2nd multiplexing devices are connected together via a cable to secure a redundant configuration. In such a configuration, the transmission devices 25-28 equivalent to the modules C are connected to low speed sides of 2.4 G-XLM 23 and 24 which are connected via the relay transmission lines 29 and 30 respectively. Then the 1st and 2nd multiplexing devices are connected together via the lines 29 and 30 for configuring a communication network. The 2.4 G-XLM 23 installed in an office building 21 consists of an HS unit 31 of (0) system, an HS unit 32 of (1) system, an LS unit 35 storing the low speed interface boards (LIF) #1 (0)-#8 (0) and #1 (1)-#8 (1) and an LS#2 unit 36 storing the LIF #9 (0)-#16 (0) and #9 (1)-#16 (1).
