A castor retaining tube insert 10 comprises a body portion 12 configured for sliding insertion into an open end of a tubular strut, an end stop 14 and a castor spigot retaining bore 16. The body portion 12 has six elongate bearing surfaces 18, 20, 22, 24, 26 and 28 arranged in a double cruciform shape, each having ramp portions, for example 36 and 38, adjacent recesses, for example 40 and 42. As the tube insert 10 is pushed into an open end of a tubular strut, the ramp portions disposed at each end of the tube insert 10 provide resistance to insertion which can be overcome by forcing the tube insert 10 into the strut. This causes excess material to be sheared from the ramp portions which can collect in the recesses adjacent the ramp portions to lessen the likelihood of the tube insert 10 jamming in the strut. <IMAGE> |
