DISTRIBUTING METHOD FOR CONTENTS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To give a unique ID number to each piece of electronic data when contents of a book, music or the like, are distributed as the electronic data by using communication. SOLUTION: Contents-distributor side devices 11 to 13 send property information on contents to an ID issue center side device 4. The center-side device 4 performs retrieval from an ID number database to check whether or not there is the property information partially matching the received property information and generates a basic number when the property information is not found or an additional number for the ID number made correspond to the property information when the property information is found. Then the basic number or the number obtained by adding the additional number to the ID number is registered as the ID number in a database 41 while made to correspond to the property information. The basic number is embedded as an ID number in contents data and distributed and the additional number is embedded as an additional ID number and distributed.
