PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make smaller an arrester module which is mounted on a connector block for connecting an exchange side communication line and a subscriber side communication line and protects a unit from high current and high voltage, in a place where communication equipment such as PBX and a telephone exchange is arranged. SOLUTION: A housing 5 for storing PTC1, which is connected in series with either one communication line, a PTC2 connected to the other line in series and a gas tube 3 connected in parallel to both lines, is installed. The housing 5 has a conduction bar 4, having a printing circuit for connecting the elements with the communication line and a ground spring board for connecting the gas tube 3 to a ground terminal which belongs to a connector block. The housing 5 has a flat rectangular parallelopiped shape having two wide side face walls 51 and 52. The thicknesses of the wide side face walls 51 and 52 are made smaller than the thickness of the other wall part. A recessed part or an opening 52a is formed in a part facing the gas tube 3 of one wide side face wall. A part of the diameter direction of the gas tube 3 is inserted into the recessed part or the opening 52a.
