DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DECIDING WELDING QUALITY OF FLASH BUTT WELDER BY OUTPUTTING WIDTH OF HEAT AFFECTED ZONE

PURPOSE: A device and a method for deciding the welding quality of a flash butt welder are provided to decide the welding quality by measuring the width of heat affected zone and outputting bending intensity corresponding to the width of heat affected zone. CONSTITUTION: A welding quality deciding unit(14) outputs bending intensity based on the width calculated by a unit(12) for outputting the width of heat affecting portion. The bending intensity is outputted by the relationship of the repeated bending intensity and width of heat affected zone. The outputted bending intensity is compared with an established bending intensity. A defect of welding quality of a point photographed by a CCD camera(8) is decided. A result of deciding the welding quality is stored in a storage unit(10). The CCD camera photographs another point so that the welding quality of that point is decided again. A result of the welding quality in all sections of a welding portion(4) is stored in the storage unit. Then, the welding quality deciding unit determines the quality of the welding portion based on the result.
