PURPOSE: A portable telephone is provided to transmit a voice message for waiting in a communication standby state to a caller when a telephone rings at a place needed to be quiet, and to keep a telephone connecting state, so as to make a user communicate with the caller after moving to a communication available place. CONSTITUTION: A transceiver(3) modulates/demodualtes the wireless signal. A controller(5) plays a communication standby message stored in a message storage(7) to manage a signal process, and transmits the communication standby message to the transceiver(3). The message storage(7) stores the communication standby message. A communication standby selecting button(9) keeps a telephone connecting state with an other party, and transmits the communication standby message to the other party. The communication standby message is repeatedly transmitted to the other party until the other party releases a communication standby by a determined interval.
