A method of flowing resin from an inlet opening (7) into a sealed mold (6) and a layup (36) which is comprised of at least one top layer of absorbent or reinforcing material (5) which defines a passage or hole (15) from the inlet opening (7) to a non-absorbent layer (2) which non-absorbent layer lies above at least one bottom layer (4) of reinforcing material. This process flows the resin from the inlet opening (7) into the mold (6) then through the passage (15) defined by the top reinforcing layer (5) through the non-absorbent layer (2) and then through the channels (3) defined by the non-absorbent layer (2) throughout the layup. The substantially non-absorbent layer (2) is a weave defining a plurality of channels (3) serving as a conduit for resin to move throughout the volume. A strand of absorbing or non-absorbing material (34) is used in order to fix the position the layers of absorbing material to the non-absorbing material to speed up making lay-ups and better secure the connection between layers.
|
