摘要 PURPOSE: A method for performing a smart scaling process of a monitor is provided to sample a predetermined video graphics array(VGA) signal and to convert the sampled VGA signal into extended graphics array(XGA) video screen data extended as much as 1.6 times, then to display the XGA video screen data on a liquid crystal display(LCD), so as to implement a flexible screen. CONSTITUTION: A video processor recognizes a horizontal synchronizing signal(H-SYNC) and a vertical synchronizing signal(V-SYNC), and decides video modes of inputted red/green/blue(R,G,B) signals(S20,S21). If the R,G,B signals are in specific video modes instead of extended graphics array(XGA) mode signals, the video processor samples the specific video modes and extends the sampled video modes as XGA modes(S22). The video processor compares specific video mode screen data extended as the XGA modes for three periods, and decides whether consecutive second-period data and third-period data are equal to each other after first-period data(S23,S24). If not, the video processor compares the specific video mode screen data for three periods, and decides whether the first-period data and the second-period data consecutive previous to the third-period data are equal to each other(S25). If so, the video processor converts the second-period data into specific video mode screen data extended as XGA modes indicating an intermediate chroma and an intermediate brightness of the first-period data and the third-period data(S26,S27). If the first-period data is equal to the second-period data, the video processor converts the second-period data into specific video mode screen data extended as XGA modes indicating an intermediate chroma and an intermediate brightness of the first-period data and the third-period data(S28,S29). A video processor stores a video mode deciding result in a memory(S30). The video processor transmits the XGA video screen data stored in the memory and the specific video mode screen data, which is sampled into the XGA video screen data to be extended, to an LCD module to display the two XGA video screen data on an LCD(S31,S32).
