PURPOSE: A multi-domain liquid crystal display is provided to increase aperture ratio by using a gate line with a wide width as a sub-electrode line, prevent the line fault caused by short between the sub-electrode and a data line or gate line, and reduce the resistance component of the sub-electrode line. CONSTITUTION: A sub-electrode line(22), extended in the direction perpendicular to a gate line(4), is arranged between a data line(2) and a pixel electrode(24). The potential difference, between the pixel electrode(24) and the sub-electrode line(24) with the gate line(4) in the pixel electrode(24) contour, controls the alignment direction of liquid crystal. The sub-electrode line(22) embodies a multi-domain by using a gate signal applied to the gate line(4). By using the gate line(4) with a wide width as the sub-electrode line(22), it is possible to increase the size of the pixel electrode(24) and reduce the resistance component of the sub-electrode line(22).
