PURPOSE: A method for registering received bell frequencies in a portable telephone terminal device is provided to generate received bells as much as pre-registered frequencies when a received call is sensed, so as to remove noises caused by the received bells when a user does not instantly respond to the received bells, and to make the user set up received bell frequencies suitable for a user's responding habit CONSTITUTION: A controller scans a key input unit, and checks whether a mode key for registering a received bell frequency is inputted(S211). If not, the controller performs an operation corresponding to the inputted key(S213). If a mode key for registering a received bell frequency is inputted, the controller converts a mode of a portable telephone terminal device into a received bell frequency registering mode(S215). The controller scans the key input unit, and checks whether the key for registering a received bell frequency is inputted(S217). If not, the controller checks whether a predetermined time elapses(S219). If not, the controller returns to the step'(S217)'. If the received bell frequency key is inputted, the controller stores/registers the received bell frequency key in a determined region of a memory(S221). The controller releases the received bell frequency registering mode to return to an initial state(S223)
