PURPOSE: A motor drive controller is provided to generate a maximal torque in the same motor by changing a phase difference between a voltage and current applied to a motor and minimizing a phase difference between an inverse electromotive force and current in the motor. CONSTITUTION: A rectifier(110) rectifies an input AC voltage from an AC power supply(100) to a DC voltage. A capacitor(120) smooths the DC voltage from the rectifier(110). A switching section(130) receives the DC voltage from the capacitor(120) according to a control signal and drives a motor(140). A phase difference generator(150) generates a voltage command having a phase ahead of an inverse electromotive force of the motor. A controller(160) detects a location of the motor(140) through the inverse electromotive force. The controller(160) controls a switching operation of the switching section(130) by using the voltage command from the phase difference generator(150) when an amount of a load of the motor(140) is increased.
