PURPOSE: A starting assistance control method is provided to reduce uncombusted waste gas and to protect engine by operating an active starting while a diesel stars at a very low temperature of winter. CONSTITUTION: A starting assistance control device comprises a starting unit to set a starting of a diesel engine; an engine rotation per minute(RPM) sensor sensing an engine RPM in starting the engine on the starting unit; a coolant temperature sensor sensing a coolant temperature of the engine; an engine electronic control unit outputting a controlled driving signal by controlling the engine RPM to be under a reference RPM, the coolant temperature to be under a reference coolant temperature and a vehicle speed to be zero; and an exhaust brake turning on/off an exhaust brake valve by the output signal of the engine electronic control unit. A control method of the starting assistance comprises; a stage cranking(20) by turning on the starting unit of the diesel engine in an initialization state, a stage sensing(21) the coolant temperature of the engine in cranking, a stage turning off(23) the exhaust brake valve while the coolant temperature is over the reference coolant temperature, a stage setting(24) a normal starting with the exhaust brake valve, a stage sensing(25) the engine RPM while the coolant temperature is not over the reference coolant temperature, and a stage turning on(27) the starting unit while the engine RPM is over the reference engine RPM.
