PURPOSE: A cathode for a CRT and a producing method thereof are provided to improve current density through improving reductive agent, to improve attachment through forming an unevenness unit by surface treatment, and to improve productivity through oxidation reduction while processing a base metal. CONSTITUTION: After oxidizing a base metal(23), reduction is performed to form fine porosity on surface of the metal. Therefore, attachment of the base metal with a coating layer of an electron emitting material is improved while increasing lifespan of a cathode. A reductive agent powder(24) is filled on surface of the metal. Herein, the reductive agent such as W, Ta, Mo, Ti of under 1 micrometer is placed on a grinder(30) to press while grinding. Thus, the powder is filled in the fine porosity on the base metal.
