PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wiper control system that stops and restarts the operation of wipers at optimal timing when the vehicle goes into and out of a tunnel. SOLUTION: A wiper control system 100 comprises vehicle locating means 10 for locating the associated vehicle from one time to another, road map data holding means 20 for holding map data on the road where the vehicle runs, and control means 50 for controlling these and other parts. The control means 50 determines whether the vehicle is going into or out of a tunnel, from vehicle position information by the vehicle locating means 10 and tunnel position information by the road map data holding means 20, and when the vehicle goes into a tunnel and runs a preset distance from the tunnel mouth, stops the wiper operation and when the vehicle in the tunnel comes within a preset distance to the tunnel end, starts the wiper operation.
