摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject resin useful for the production of a gas separation membrane excellent in gas-permeation performances, gas selectivity, heat resistance, membrane-forming ability and the like by carrying out a condensation polymerization of a specific tetracarboxylic dianhydride and a specified diamine. SOLUTION: This polyimide resin is obtained by carrying out a condensation polymerization of (A) a tetracarboxylic dianhydride of formula I (S is a tetravalent organic group) and (B) a diamine of formula II [X is O, methylene or the like; R and P are each a halogen or a (halogen-containing) 1-6C hydrocarbon; n and m are each 0-4; l is 0-3] and has a repeating structural unit of formula III and 50-600 average degree of polymerization. The component B is preferably used in an amount of 0.95-1.05 mol, especially preferably an equimolar amount based on 1 mol of the component A. In the condensation polymerization, the component A and the component B are preferably mixed and the reaction is preferably carried out at a temperature of room temperature or below usually for 3-24 h to obtain a polyamic acid. A dehydration cyclizing agent such as acetic anhydride is then preferably added to the reactional solution. Furthermore, the reaction is preferably carried out at room temperature usually for 3-24 h.
