PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To utilize combustion air for cooling or discharging low melting point metal by providing an opening for supplying combustion air from the inside of a hopper under the grate of a refuse incinerator into a furnace through an air supply duct above the hopper under the grate. SOLUTION: Refuse thrown into a refuse throw-in hopper is fed into a furnace. A grating 3 comprises a drying grating 3a, a combustion grating 3b and a post-combustion grating 3c. Hoppers 6a-6c for collecting combustion ash are provided under the gratings 3a-3c. The hoppers 6a-6c are provided with an air supply duct 7 for supplying combustion air into a furnace through the gratings 3a-3c. The air supply duct 7 is coupled through a duct 9 with supply piping 10 provided above the hoppers 6a-6c. The supply piping 10 is provided with an opening for supplying combustion air into the hoppers 6a-6c. According to the structure, combustion air can be used for cooling and low melting point molten metal can be prevented from dripping onto the inner wall of hopper and depositing there.
