PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a bis(perfluoroalkylsulfonyl)methane useful e.g. as a synthetic raw material for tris(trifluorosulfonyl)methane lithium salt usable as a solid electrolyte of a high-performance totally solid battery by reacting a specific perfluoroalkylsulfonic acid anhydride with methyl lithium. SOLUTION: The objective compound of formula R1SO2CH2SO2R2 can be produced by reacting a perfluoroalkylsulfonic acid anhydride of formula (R1SO2)2O (R1 is a 1-6C perfluoroalkyl) with methyl lithium preferably at -40 to +10 deg.C for several minutes to 24 hr, reacting the resultant monosulfonyl methane with a butyl lithium (preferably t-butyl lithium) preferably at -90 to +20 deg.C for several minutes to 24 hr to obtain a sulfonylmethane lithium salt and reacting the product with a perfluoroalkylsulfonic acid anhydride of formula (R2SO2)2O (R2 is a 1-6C perfluoroalkyl).
