摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an organohalosilane through Rochow reaction wherein active metallic silicon particles can be selectively used easily and surely. SOLUTION: This method for producing an organohalosilane comprises reacting metallic silicon particles 10 μm to 10 mm in average size with an organohalide in the presence of a copper catalyst; wherein the metallic silicon particles to be used is such that the surface oxygen level is >=0.05 wt.% and/or >=0.001 g.oxygen/m2.Si surface area as the oxygen concentration difference afforded by analyzing oxygen inside metal for the metallic silicon particles after left to stand in an air atmosphere at 25 deg.C×55%RH for 3 h or longer and small lumps of a metallic silicon material for obtaining the metallic silicon particles through grinding itself. Thereby, active metallic silicon particles in the Rochow reaction can be provided, thus leading to raise the reaction rate, in particular that in activation period and shorten the activation period itself, and improving the accomplishment of the Rochow reaction itself.
