PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solenoid valve preventing burrs from generating at an opening periphery portion of a communicating groove. SOLUTION: This solenoid valve has a plunger 17 movable by excitation of a coil 6, a shaft 18 applying a load of the plunger 17 onto a spool 20, and a cover 14 and a core 15 having a first oil sump chamber 23 and a penetrating hole 25, respectively, formed with inner circumferential surfaces for slidably supporting the shaft 18. The inner circumferential surfaces are formed with axial communicating grooves 39a, 39b. A first end face 28a and a contacting surface 30 on the cover 14 and the core 15 are formed with step portions 40a, 40b each having a sectional area smaller than a sectional area of each opening of the first oil sump chamber 23 of the cover 14 or the penetrating hole 25 of and the core 15.
