SOLUTION: This hydraulic system for an industrial vehicle includes an internal combustion engine 1, a hydraulic pump 2 driven by the internal combustion engine, and a selector valve 13 connected to the hydraulic pump 2, wherein the discharge side of the hydraulic pump 2 is connected to a tank through the selector valve, the discharge side of the hydraulic pump 2 is connected to a supply passage 8, and the supply passage communicates with at least one hydraulic load. There is provided another hydraulic pump 3, and separate selector valves 13, 14 are assigned to the respective hydraulic pumps 2, 3. The discharge sides of the hydraulic pumps 2, 3 are selectively connected to the tank 5 through the selector valves, and the discharge sides of the hydraulic pumps 2, 3 are connected to a common supply passage 8. The switching positions of the selector valves 13, 14 are controlled according to the operating conditions of a hydraulic steering device 10 and a hydraulic lift device and the rotating speed of the internal combustion engine 1.
