PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently suppress the polymerization, minimize the occurrence of fouling in the relating installation and facilitate the safety operation of the installation by combining specific compounds for individual processes from the production of styrenes to the transportation process and adding these combination to individual steps, respectively. SOLUTION: In the processes from the production of styrenes, purification, to the storage or transportation, (A) piperidine-1-oxyls bearing sterically hindering substituent at 2- and 6-positions (for example, 2,2,6,6- tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl or the like) and (B) piperidines bearing sterically hindering groups at 2- and 6-positions (for example, 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-piperidine) and (C) a nitrophenol (for example, nitro-phenol or the like) are combined and the combination product is added to the styrene. In a preferred embodiment, the component B is used in an amount of 0.5-5 pts.wt., the component C is 100-5,000 pts.wt., per 100 pts.wt. of the component A.
