PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission having gear speeds of proceeding 6 gears capable of providing an adequate gear ratio, by improving a gear ratio of forward to backward gear speeds to the adequate gear ratio by forming a first row of planetary gears as double pinion planetary gears, and adding a single planetary gear of a second row. SOLUTION: This transmission with 6 forward gear speeds and 1 backward gear speed can be constructed by changing five engaging elements (clutch elements C1, C2 and brake elements B1, B2, B3). Because a ratio of the number of ends of a sun gear S1 of planetary gears of a first row to the number of teeth of a ring gear R1 depends on size when planetary gears of the first row are fixed, planetary gears of the first row are formed as double pinion planetary gears G1. Thus, a gear ratio of forward to backward gear speeds is improved to an adequate gear ratio and single planetary gear G2 of a second row is added, and thereby a gear ratio of forward gear speeds that can not improved by of double pinion planetary gears G1 of the first row is set adequately.
