PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device capable of regenerating signals with excellent accuracy even in the case that laser beams having different polarization surfaces on an inner peripheral part and on an outer peripheral part are projected on a magnet-optical recording medium. SOLUTION: An optical pickup device 10 is equipped with a semiconductor laser 1, a collimator lens 2, a beam splitter 3, an objective lens 4, a light shielding body 6, a Wollaston prism 7, a condensing lens 8, and a photodetector 9. A laser beam reflected by a magneto-optical recording medium 5 is reflected from the beam splitter 3 to the direction of photodetector 9, is made incident on the light shielding body 6, which shields light in an outer peripheral part having a polarization surface different from an inner peripheral part and allows transmission only in an inner peripheral part. The Wollaston prism 7 separates a laser beam, passed through the light shielding body 6 and having a polarization surface in a prescribed direction, into a laser beam LBS having only S polarization component, a laser beam LBP having only P polarization component, and a laser beams LBSP having a mixture of a S polarization component and P polarization component. Then, these three laser beams are detected by the photodetector 9. |
