PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve density contrast and a visual field angle of a display pixel by encapsulating plural kinds of particles having masking property in a space between a display substrate and a counter substrate and using two kinds of particles having different color and volume resistivity. SOLUTION: The display substrate 100a and the counter substrate 100b are arranged to face each other in parallel through spacer particles. Besides spacer particles, nearly equivalent amount of two kinds of particles having different color and volume resistivity, black conductive particles 105 and white insulated particles 106, for example, are encapsulated therein so that volume filling rate in a void is about 50%. The black conductive particles 105 are, for example, carbon particles having 7.0 μm average grain size and 1370 kg/m3 volume density and the white insulated particles 106 are, for example, crosslinked polyacrylic acid ester having 15 μm average grain size and 1090 kg/m3 volume density. Image of high contrast is formed in a state where the black conductive particles 105 are densely stuck to a part corresponding to the image of the display substrate 100a side and the white insulated particles 106 are densely stuck to a nonimage part. |
