PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a monochrome picture for the medical field use in a high definition display picture suitable for diagnosis, by displaying the monochrome picture having gradation resolution higher than the reproduction capability of each RGB of a color display device, and to realized multiple gradations in the number of display levels. SOLUTION: A data processing part 16 displays a picture data having resolution of 10-bit gradations supplied from a picture photographing part S in resolution of 10-bit gradations by using a FRC function. A 10-bit picture display can be expressed by an FRC display of 8-bit×4-frame. The FRC display means that when displaying picture data of higher gradation resolution as those of lower gradation resolution, lower bit picture data are generated from higher bit picture data according to the bit number difference between both of the picture data, and these picture data are sequentially displayed, and thereby gradation is expressed corresponding to the high bit number in the low bit number picture display.
