PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device capable of preventing generation of positional deviation of the device when a background image and a normal image are photographed. SOLUTION: This image pickup device photographs the background image (first image) only with background without including an object and the normal image (second image) including the object and is constituted by providing a timer 2 to count time after a shutter key is depressed and a mode selecting part 3 to output a photographed image from a CCD 1 to a background image buffer 4 as the background image when time t1 is counted by the timer 2 and to further output the photographed image to an area extracting part 5 and an image compressing part 6 as the normal image when time t2 is counted.
