PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the isolating function of a separator from being damaged even if the joint part of the separator is erroneously integrated into a battery by connecting the joint of the rolled separator by use of an adhesive tape consisting of an acid-resisting and oxidation-resisting base material. SOLUTION: In this separator, the base material of the adhesive tape is preferably formed of a polyolefin, polyester or polyvinyl chloride material, and the adhesive of the adhesive tape is an acrylic adhesive having an the adhesive force of 200 g/15 mm or more. The butt joint 1a of two continuous separators 1, 1 is connected by use of a joint tape 2. The base material of the joint tape 2 to be stuck to the separators 1, 1 is required to be selected from resins having acid resistance and oxidation resistance. When the acrylic adhesive is used, the strength and elongation of the tape base material are never deteriorated even after dipping, for example, in sulfuric acid of 75 deg.C and specific gravity 1.30 for 10 days, and the peeling from the separator is not observed.
