PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the influence on a display screen in the arrangement of a spacer by providing a spacer arranged on and near the centerline of an electron source provided between a first substrate and a second substrate and adjacent to the first direction of the first substrate. SOLUTION: It is necessary to set the height of a spacer 501 to the same as a frame glass, and the influence on a display screen is smaller as the thickness of the spacer 510 is thinner. When the thickness of the spacer 501 is (t) and the arrangement interval of an electron emission part 504 in the thickness direction of the spacer 501 is P, the thickness of the spacer 501 is preferably set to t<=P/10 in consideration of the influence on the display. The length of the spacer 501 is freely selectable. Of the electron emission parts 504 formed in intersections of lower electrodes 502 and upper electrodes 503, the spacer 501 is arranged in or near the centerline of the vertically adjacent electron emission parts 504. The spacer 501 is arranged without causing a disconnection in the wiring layer of each electron emission part 504, and stably and surely fixed.
