摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an electrolyte plate from cracking. SOLUTION: This fuel cell has two cell frames 34 with a recessed part, containing electrodes 10 and 12 in the inner surfaces thereof and a number of gas-passage 18 contained in the recessed part. The electrodes 10 and 12 and an electrolyte plate 38 are held between the two cell frames 34 to form a wet sealing part 40. In that fused carbonate fuel cell, an angled region 36 is formed at each of the cell frames 34, such that the space between the two upper and lower cell frames 34 becomes wide at an electrode side and becomes narrow at the outer side of the cells, thereby giving the wet sealing part 40 an angle inclining to an inner side thereof. Addition of pressure to the cell frames 34 from their up-side and down-side gives the electrolyte plate 38 a compressive force direction inwards. The compressive force causes the electrolyte plate 38 itself to fill up irregularities and the space between the electrodes 10 and 12 and the cell frames 34.
