A motor vehicle control system has a control device (8) for controlling a vehicle function, and includes a dismantling detector for detecting removal of the control device (8) from its given designed position in the vehicle. The control device (8) is designed so that following the detection of a dismantling or removal operation, a subsequent proper or normal re-activation of the control device is prevented. The dismantling detector (5) specifically contains a connection between two elements, esp. the contact pins (4) of a connecting plug (1), and has its presence or availability verified by the control device (8). Deactivation measures for blocking a subsequent proper or normal activation of the control device include erasure of data and/or programs required for operation and filed in a store(9). |
