The invention relates to a holding device (1), especially an insert, attachment, supplement or envelope for a printing-house product or mailing or advertising product. The inventive holding device is comprised of a multilayered blank (2) which is folded or composed of paper, paperboard, film or the like, whereby in the case of an envelope, the blank (2) forms a front part (3) on which another blank which forms a rear part (4) is additionally arranged, and a holding compartment (7) for a flat object (10) that can be inlaid or inserted is provided in the multilayered section. The blank (2) is constructed with only two layers and at least one of both layers (5, 6) of the blank (2) is provided, in the area of the holding compartment (7), with at least one lengthening cut (8) located outside of the edge area (9) of the flat object (10).
