The first and second transfer elements (24,26) are joined in the operating position by means of a connector which encloses the respective transfer elements by first and second connecting elements which here engage, being disengaged for cleaning purposes. The transfer elements can move relative one another and to the tubular shaft (12) in the working position and the transfer elements act on a manipulator (14) at the distal end of the implement. The manipulator presents a clip placer (14) and the two transfer elements are on the clip magazine (160) on the implement. Two actuators (20,22) at the proximal end form a grip (18) to activate the two transfer elements (24,26). The grip (18) connects to the shaft (12) in the working position but disconnects from this (12) for cleaning and the first transfer element (24) presents a tube round the second element (26).
