A common platform appropriate to network integration for providing position information. A section (40b) for providing position information in a gateway server (40) acquires position information on portable units (10, 20, 30) from a position sensor (50), individual information presented in a different format, uses a position information converter (60) to convert the acquired information from one format to another so that the associated IP server (80A, 80B...) can recognize it, and sends the converted position information to the server (80A, 80B...).
