Direction-finding receiver signal processing method

Signals transmitted in the high-frequency range are detected and processed in a direction-finding receiver. The method comprises transforming the received signals into time-frequency space, with measurement cells 1 for each measurement time and frequency channel. Data corresponding to the signal strength and azimuth angle of signal detection are assigned to the corresponding cells, then the cells of one transmission are combined into one elemental transmission 3. This processing allows the detected and 'segmented' signals to be tracked in time more easily than other methods and may be particularly adapted for use in the shortwave range where signal fading is prevalent. The method may be particularly used in chirp sounders.
