PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize high speed printing by providing a recording medium guide plate curved arcuately and a section for carrying a recording medium with the print face touching the outer surface of the guide plate, and printing on the recording medium with a print head through an opening made in the guide plate thereby enlarging the print width. SOLUTION: When image information is inputted from a computer to a printer, a crescent roller 8 rotates to feed a recording sheet P in a sheet cassette 7 onto a carrying passage 9. Subsequently, the recording sheet P is fed onto the outer circumferential surface of a guide plate 3 curved arcuately by means of a sheet feed roller 5 and held between the guide plate 3 and the carrying roller 16 of a head unit 2 located at a first position. Thereafter, the head unit 2 begins to turn to the second position side while clamping the recording sheet P which is printed by means of an ink head 13 when the head unit 2 arrives at the opening 12 of the guide plate 3. According to the arrangement, print width can be enlarged and high speed printing can be effected. |
