PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently obtain pellets stable in quality and uniform in length or cross-sectional shape even from flexible strands by cutting without requiring much time for preparation. SOLUTION: In a strand cutting apparatus consisting of a taking-out roll 12 for drawing up a large number of fed-in strands 11, a pair of cutter rolls 13 for cutting the strands 11 fed out of the taking-out roll 12 to pelletize them and a fixed blade 14, the peripheral surface of the taking-out roll 12 is constituted of a cylinder and a large number of grooves 16 are provided to the peripheral surface of the cylinder in the circumferential direction thereof and a large number of through-holes continuing to the inner surface of the cylinder are bored in the peripheral surface grooves 16 and an air jet device for blowing off air through the through-holes is provided in the cylinder and the cylinder is supported in a rotatable manner by a shaft with respect to the air jet device.
