<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart a function not inferior to that of activated carbon or the like as a biological carrier to a water cleaning material made of a coal ash. SOLUTION: In order to develop a water treatment material having a porosity with a level of several tens - 100μm not possessed by water treatment pellets made of coal ash zeolite, the light part said to be float ash, which has characteristics with a specific gravity of 1 or less, a relatively large spherical diameter and high percentage of hollowness, of coal ash is utilized to be granulated and molded to produce a water treatment material. When float ash is molded and coated, finely divided coal ash is added to a binder as a filler to be mixed therewith. At this time, caustic soda is adapted in a powdery form. The granular molded article thus obtained has nitrification and denitrification functions almost equal to those of a commercial carrier comprising activated carbon or ceramic.</p> |
