PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the generation of defects such as streaks and scratches when an intermediate layer is formed by coating on an undercoat layer using a blade coater by applying a pigment coating liquid containing a specific heavy calcium bicarbonate as the undercoat layer to be arranged on a base paper with the help of a film trans-type roll coater. SOLUTION: An undercoat layer is arranged on a base paper and an intermediate layer containing 50 wt.% or more oil-absorbing pigment to the total amount of a pigment is formed by coating on the undercoat layer, using a blade coater and further, a heat-sensitive recording layer is formed by coating. In this case, the undercoat layer is formed by applying a pigment coating liquid containing 30-70 wt.% heavy calcium bicarbonate with 3 μm average particle dia. to the total amount of the pigment, with the help of a film trans-type roll coater (MFP). A shearing force generated in the coating liquid is mitigated by the heavy calcium bicarbonate of the undercoat layer and thereby the fluidity of the coating liquid is secured. Consequently, it is possible to eliminate the generation of coating defects such as streaks and scratches, when the intermediate layer is formed by coating on the undercoat layer by means of the blade coater. |
