<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain sterility for improving a plant efficiently by increasing transgenic parent plant roots containing a sterility gene bonded with a resistant gene capable of imparting a resistance against a selected medicine and coating the obtained seeds with a composition containing the selected medicine. SOLUTION: This method for maintaining the sterility of a plant is provided by forming a transgenic parent plant root containing a sterility gene selected from a group consisting of p.AN::Tox, dam methylase or barnase genetically bonded with a resistant gene capable of imparting a resistance against a selected medicine such as an herbicide such as imidazolinone, sulfonylurea, etc., such as Bar, PAT, NPT, etc., increasing the transgenic parent plant root and then coating the seeds of the increased transgenic parent plant roots with a composition containing the selected medicine against the resistance imparted with the resistance gene. Further, the transgenic parent plant root preferably contains also a structural promoter such as CaMV-19S, etc., bonded with the resistant gene.</p> |
