PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fully automatically inspect at a good accuracy without unevenness of the accuracy due to a personal difference of an inspector by photographing a dog or the like of a carrier in an inspecting section, detecting a stopping position of the carrier from an image and a rotary deviation of a bottle, and deciding a pass or a fail from a correcting amount of the deviation. SOLUTION: After a bottle G held by a carrier 4 of a printer is conveyed to a printing unit and printed, reference portions of a dog 8 of the carrier 4, a lug 11 of the bottle G and a print 12 of the bottle G are photographed by imaging means 5 to 7 in an inspecting section, and then processed by an image processor. The means 5 to 7 respectively sense a stopping positional deviation of the carrier 4, a rotary deviation of the bottle G to the carrier 4 and centerline positions of the reference portions, and correct the stopping deviation of the carrier 4 and the rotary deviation of the bottle G to the carrier 4 with respect to the centerline position. Further, the corrected centerline position is compared with the reference position, and if the difference is larger than a set value, a print position is judged to be failed or if the difference is within the set value, the print position is judged to be passed.
