PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for hydrogenation of an intermediate fraction of distillate in two continuous zones containing an intermediate stripping zone of an effluent flowing out from a first zone by condensation of a heavy material discharged at the top of a stripper. SOLUTION: A gas effluent containing a hydrocarbon which is in a gaseous state under a condition in a stripping zone, hydrogen and hydrogen sulfide, is generated in a stripping process. The gas effluent is cooled at a temperature adequate for generating a hydrocarbon liquid fraction, at least part of which is sent to the stripping zone, and a gas fraction which has a low hydrocarbon content and is sent to a removal zone for removing hydrogen sulfide contained in the gas fraction. Then, purified hydrogen is recovered from the removal zone.
